The Engagement

About the same time last year, I wrote about how I got engaged with Val, now my husband. Since I haven’t blogged about it here, allow me to share it with you…

My fiancé didn’t exactly sweep me off my feet with a sparkling diamond ring. But he brought his family to meet mine and asked my parents’ permission to marry me. That’s how we got engaged.

His parents and sister were abroad so I only had the chance to meet them late last year. Not long after, they met my family too. My boyfriend then was quite decided to marry me so he didn’t waste any time in bringing the two families together.

Everything went well. There weren’t any objections from my parents, given that they are very particular, if not strict, about my life decisions and my future. Everybody got along together well. There was laughter during lunch and a lot of talk about the wedding.

My fiancé and I have originally planned to get hitched on February 28th, 2010, Sunday. However, my brother, his father and sister will not be able to come home. So, we moved it to June 5th, 2010, Saturday. It has been agreed and scheduled in the church already.

If the original plan hasn’t changed, we would be getting married in a week’s time from now. But it’s OK. We can still wait a few more months.

Sounds pretty traditional, right? But that’s what the two families are and I’m happy enough that we all got along together well.

If you’re wondering why we previously wanted to get married on February 28th, it is because my parents were married on that date. In fact, they’re going to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary at the end of this month. Val and I are hoping that we’ll be there to celebrate with them.

Before I end this post, here’s our save-the-date photo.

Project 365 for 2011 – Our Wedding Scrapbook

This year, I started my Project 365. It’s called Our Wedding Scrapbook. Val and I have loads of photos from our wedding day and they’re perfect for scrapbooking. I’ve been looking for free kits and quickpages for them since last year. But what truly makes me happy are the layouts that I myself made. It’s overwhelming how much I’ve learned in Photoshop. I intend to learn more tricks. I think, I’m already addicted. I’ve spent a lot of hours watching video tutorials, exploring and experimenting.

Today marks Day 40 of my project and today, I will post something of my own layout. So here I am, proud to present Project 40/365.

To see a hi-res version of this digiscrap, you may visit my tumblelog, http://vpweddingscrapbook.tumblr.com/.

So what do you think of my layout? I’d really appreciate your comments. I’m fairly new to this thing and I would love to learn some more.

Anyway, that’s me and Val together with our Principal Sponsors. There are 9 pairs of them, all of whom are close family friends and relatives. We are very grateful that they came to join us on our wedding day.

Here’s Kit “I Do,” which I used on the above layout. Sadly though, the download link for this kit has expired, but you may still visit Marie’s blog for more freebies.

From now on, I will be posting weekly updates of my project. Maybe, every other day for this week and next so I can catch up. LOL! Thanks for dropping by. Good day!

Sinulog 2011

This year’s Sinulog was a first for me and Val. Sadly though, we weren’t able to experience much due to the awful weather condition. It had been raining here and there and we just couldn’t afford to get sick. So we decided to simply stay at home and just pray that Sto. Niño will pour his blessings upon us just like rain that day.

But we did go visit Basilica de Sto. Niño a few days before the big event. It was around two in the afternoon when we got there and we wondered why there are a lot of people. Later, I found out that the people were attending the daily novena mass. What’s amazing was there were 10 masses held each day for 9 consecutive days and the Basilica was always filled with devotees all throughout the day. Isn’t that great? I’ve never seen so many people with their fervent prayers and devotion gathered in one place.

That’s only a portion inside the Basilica. There are still more outside, since the mass is held outside.

This is me and Val. On our background is Magellan’s Cross.
